There’s a busy week on college football: the last match list ahead of the College Football Playoff Rankings It unveils its first order.
What will the first 25 centers look like? The usual suspects are likely to be at or near the top, but there are several games worth watching this weekend that could affect those rankings. Especially important will be No. 9 Indiana and No. 3 Ohio State, who both battle to help define the champion of the Big Ten East.
They’ve already done Hoosiers Beat Michigan, Michigan and Pennsylvania, So a win over Buckeyes – which hasn’t happened since 1988 – could win Indiana. Easier said than done: Justin Fields’ led by Ohio seems to be the real deal not only in the Big Ten, but also in the playoff race. Look for a similarly important race in the Big Ten West when No. 10 Wisconsin is No. 19 Northwestern.
The only other game ranked this week – No. 14 Oklahoma State (5-1, 4-1 Big 12) at 18th in Oklahoma (5-2, 4-2 Big 12) – can decide if the Big 12 has a skinny chance To conduct a playoff, or nothing at all. No team of Losers has ever reached the Finals, and the Cowboys will fully realize that when they face the Sooners in Norman. Oklahoma has not won in Bedlam since 2014.
It’s also worth noting that Cincinnati No. 7 and No. 8 BYU, two undefeated teams outside of Power 5, face unparalleled competition this week. None of the 5 teams and only one independent (Notre Dame) have played in the playoff match; Will this be the first year this trend has broken? If so, they may need to be cast to pass the playoff committee eye test.
With that, Sporting News covered how to watch each match featuring one of the top 25 teams and Team Power 5:
